The future of VR/AR technology is rapidly changing the way we respond to emergencies.

The ability to put on a headset and explore a disaster site before entering it has been proven to save lives, as well as provide more accurate information about what’s inside. It can also be used for training purposes, or even just for fun!

In this blog post, I’ll show you how AMBUS works and give some examples of where it may be helpful in the future.

What is AMBUS?

AMBUS is a VR and AR training system that provides immersive, repeatable training for EMTs to help them learn the ins and outs of operating an AMBUS ambulance. With our VR and AR technology, we can provide this type of immersive experience on any device with a screen. This allows us to train more people at once more effectively!

How Can VR/AR Help Medical Ambulance Bus Training?

We realized that in-person training was not accessible as it needed to be. We know that AMBUS partners with EMS agencies across the country. That’s why using VR/AR training we are able to build a virtual environment that mimics exactly what the AMBUS buses were and where things are in the unit. Depending on your agency focus we can also customize the simulations to focus on what’s most important to your trainees. Another incredible benefit of our VR/AR training is being able to track and monitor your trainee’s progress. For example, we created a knowledge test asking where things are like where is the gauze? Where are the syringes? Where is the fire extinguisher? And that’s how you can evaluate their performance and capabilities. This allows you to know that they’re prepared by being able to familiarize themselves with the different types of tools and features on the transport. They’ll also be prepared for potential situations they might encounter helping patients.

Overcoming The Cost Of Traditional Ambulance Bus Training:

Training costs can be expensive and not all agencies have access to in-person training services. That being said trainees still need adequate training for emergency vehicles. That’s why we believe VR/AR training is an easy way to train more people at once without having to invest in costly equipment or take up space that could be used for other needs. One of the things that we did understand is that it was very costly to train first responders and to get people to these live events. We also know that it’s oftentimes not really clear how people did when they went to those training and how much information they actually retained. So we went and we built an AR training and the VR training, and we went through a simulation of a live testing event and compared AR, VR, and traditional training together.
